10 Life Lesson Quotes from Picture Books

Children's books are magic! Most are less than 500 words but the power those words have are tremendous. Ever wonder why the books you read as a child stay with you well into adulthood? It's because they not only fuel imagination but they teach us valuable lessons. But don't just take it from me...these are some of my favorite quotes from some of my favorite picture books. They will remind you the importance of imagination, courage and hope and inspire you to the be best version of yourself and to never give up on your dreams. I bet you remember these too!

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose." — Dr. Seuss, "Oh, The Places You'll Go!"

“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.” ---- J. M. Barrie, "Peter Pan"

“A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” --- Roald Dahl, "The Twits"

"You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." — A.A. Milne, "Winnie the Pooh".

“Sometimes, I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” ---- Lewis Carroll, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland"

"I like who I am! I want to be me! Not a bird, not a whale, nor a chimpanzee." ----- Emily Peace Harrison, "I'd Rather Be Me"

“UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” ---- Dr. Seuss, "The Lorax"

"How much good inside a day? Depends how good you live ‘em. How much love inside a friend? Depends how much you give 'em." — Shel Silverstein, "A Light in The Attic".

“He’s the strongest man in the world.” “Man, yes,” said Pippi, “But I am the strongest girl in the world, remember that.” ---Astrid Lindgren, "Pippi Longstocking"

"We all can dance when we find music we love." — Giles Andreae, "Giraffes Can't Dance".

Books like these foster a love of reading but also teach us important life lessons. I wanted my books to do the same for generations to come. Grab my book or one of these and read with your children and grandchildren - I promise they'll never forget it!
